YMCA Family Day in the Park
Sunday, August 17th, 2008
10:30am-4:00pm
Family Day in the Park is designed to bring families and community together for a day of free entertainment and education. The purpose is to offer people a collaborative opportunity to showcase their talents, to compete in fun, family oriented competitions, as well as educational opportunities for both attendees and vendors alike. There will be music, food and fun!
This event draws over 8000 people annually to our local WallerPark. We offer this annual fun to families on a Sunday as this enables the 6 day a week hard-working parents in our community to attend. This year’s events will include an entertainment stage with live bands and entertainment from Zoo to You and local performers, vendor booths, food booths, carnival games as well as a water slide, bounce houses, a climbing wall and of course, Family Olympics. In addition, we will have local TV and radio coverage.
This year the Santa Maria Valley YMCA will be joining with the Boys & Girls Club to show the community simple and easy ways to “Green the Future”. There will be a light bulb exchange, tree planting, and an Energy Star Washer & Dryer give away for those who have signed a “Flex your Power” pledge card.
